as I'm out of the country until one day before the event there is very little I can do.

one problem though the planned sessions are not that exciting for an average person, they're of interest mostly to wikipedians, hardcore geeks or academics. which means you need to promote the event among these communities and not just anywhere.

it would help though if someone comes up with a short arabic article describing in one paragraph what is wikipedia, in another what is wikimania and then a short description of the alexandria event that includes some highlights on the more important/exciting sessions.

if we've got this page we can push it on blogs, forums, groups and by email and try to think how to get it to the academic and research community (might even be able to convince a newspaper to cover that though they're more likely to just latch on the Israeli participation story).
